- Britain’s favourite pulses and grains brand launches new Cajun flavoured pouch to add to their global inspired flavoured range

- The new edition is made from nutritious lentils and red kidney beans in a rich tomato sauce, with jalapeno, rosemary and smoked paprika spices

- The plant-based product is a simple meat replacement for Mexican burritos, chilli con carne and nachos, helping to make lentils the main ingredient in meals

To warm the nation up this spring, Merchant Gourmet – the leading pulses and grains brand – has launched its Spicy Cajun-Style Lentils and Red Kidney Beans (RRP £2).

Combining the flavours of the deep south of America with a mix of Merchant Gourmet’s much-loved Puy and green lentils, the new edition gives a spicy and exotic taste, straight from the kitchen.

From soft red kidney beans cooked slowly in a rich tomato sauce, to warming jalapeno and paprika seasoning, the Cajun-Style lentils offers a taste sensation with every bite.

At just 146 calories per 125g serving, the Spicy Cajun-Style pouch is completely precooked, so the hard work of cooking has been taken away. The aromatic flavours and fiery textures will make mealtimes more adventurous, as well as being a great source of protein and fibre.

Aimed at those who are looking to reduce meat in meals, the pouch can be easily incorporated into a variety of flavoursome recipes. Add the lentils into a wrap to make a plant-based burrito, mix into a chilli non-carne for more bite, or even top crunchy nachos and enjoy during a big night in! Creating a delicious, nutritious, and exciting meal has never been simpler.

Richard Peake, Managing Director at Merchant Gourmet, comments: “It’s really exciting to launch our first product under our new “Appetite for Change” brand campaign. We truly believe that eating food that is better for your health and the planet should never be compromised by the cost of time or taste.

“Our new Cajun-style pouch helps people on this journey by providing a simple way to make delicious tasting, plant-based meals. You can use it as a topping on a jacket potato, put it in a wrap, or even eat it by itself if you’re really short on time.”
