Gusbourne english sparkling wine - The 2021 tipple of choice

In the past decade, over 500 vineyards have opened in the UK, and they are thriving thanks to a shift towards producing sparkling wines, with 69 percent of the market dominated by English sparkling wine.

The 2021 trends reports are showing that English wine is the popular drink choice for 2021 and whilst vineyards are found across the whole of England, the climate in the South and South East of England, makes it a particularly popular region for growing vines, especially Kent.

Gusbourne Estate, a boutique English winery in Kent who produce exceptional sparkling English wine and believe their brand new Blanc de Blancs 2016, a vintage English sparkling wine is the sip of choice for 2021.

The Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2016 is softly rounded, pure and elegant, fruity and fresh with natural minerality. It has all of the characteristics of Gusbourne’s best selling Blanc de Blancs “white from whites” wines made from 100% Chardonnay grapes and it’s style is favoured by wine enthusiasts and purists, wine lovers and wine professionals.

With a nose of ripe citrus, pink grapefruit and pear, the Blanc de Blancs 2016 has hints of lemon, nectarine and green apple on the palate when you sip it, alongside a flinty, saline minerality. You might also experience further notes of toasted brioche, shortbread and hazelnut when you are tasting it, which adds to the complexity and elegance of the wine.

Gusbourne Head Winemaker Charlie Holland commented: “The Blanc de Blancs 2016 has a delicious roundness, making it one of my favourite wines that we have produced at Gusbourne. The fruity notes create a brooding, full and intellectual wine. The 2016’s pale golden colour, fine mousse and layered complexity means it can be paired with a selection of seafood or cheese and is equally matched with nothing but the right company.”
