Interim AHDB Dairy Sector Board Chair appointed

Peter Rees (NSch FRAgS) has been appointed as interim chair of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board’s Dairy Sector Board.
Peter, who has sat on the AHDB Dairy Board since April 2018 and is a member of the Farming Connect Strategic Board in Wales, will take up his temporary post from 1 April 2021 when Richard Soffe completes his interim term in office at the end of March.
He will remain as interim Dairy Chair until a review has taken place of the AHDB Governance at sector level. A co-design of the AHDB Sector board structure is currently underway, which is due to report back in the summer.
Peter said: “I’m looking forward to helping shape the work of AHDB Dairy as we embark on our change programme and next five-year strategy.”
Peter Rees: Peter’s family run a 300 cow dairy enterprise and he’s co-owner and Director of a touring caravan park in Llandovery, Carmarthenshire. He lectured at the Welsh Agricultural College before moving to Coleg Sir Gar where he established the Dairy Development Centre. He is a National Trustee of Lantra and Chair of Lantra Wales. He also Chairs the Dairy Improvement Programme Steering Group delivery partnership between Welsh Government, AHDB and other stakeholders.
As interim Sector Chair, Peter Rees will receive non-pensionable pro-rata remuneration of £307.69 per day, based on a minimum time commitment of up to five days a month for six months from 1 April 2021.
