An exceptional warming tipple on a cold winter’s day, indulge this festive season with Victuallers Special Edition smooth and luxurious ‘Snapes Point Sloe & Damson Gin’. Full bodied and boasting a beautiful deep ruby hue, Salcombe Gin’s outstanding sloe and damson gin has been slowly aged in 80-year-old Niepoort Colheita tawny port casks for three years with locally foraged sloes. The unique seasonal release is available now in a 50cl bottle, £40.00, ABV 35% from salcombegin.com and Salcombe Gin’s Dartmouth and Salcombe stores.

Crafted with meticulous care and attention, this classic winter warmer is no ordinary sloe gin. Produced at Salcombe Gin’s stunning waterside distillery in South Devon, one of the world’s only distilleries directly accessible by boat, this intense velvety fruit liqueur takes its name from Snapes Point, near Salcombe – where many of the sloes were handpicked from nearby coastal footpaths overlooking Kingsbridge Estuary.

Commenting on the special release, Head Distiller, Jason Nickels, says; “To create ‘Snapes Point Sloe & Damson Gin’, we first crafted a unique gin which harnessed the natural sweetness of the fruits. We then steeped locally foraged sloes and damsons separately for two months and further distilled the damson spirit on 60-litre flame-fired copper stills to amplify the flavours.”

Jason continues: “The damson and sloe spirits were then carefully blended with Dartmoor water before being aged in the tawny port casks for over three years where they picked up the sweet flavours from the casks. Finally, we added a second pick of new locally foraged fresh sloes six weeks before bottling to further elevate the flavours, resulting in a new lift to the fruity top notes.”

On the nose there are distinct aromas of sloes combined with fresh plum and a hint of almond. Dark fruits and tawny port on the palate with a rich, deep flavour, smooth finish and subtle hints of vanilla. Enjoy sipped neat or served over plenty of ice, with premium Indian tonic water garnished with a slice of orange or used as the base for seasonal cocktails. Like all the products in Salcombe Gin’s portfolio, ‘Snapes Point Sloe & Damson Gin’ contains no plastic packaging and has biodegradable cellulose tamper proof seals.

Drawing influence from the coastal vitality of Salcombe and its shipbuilding heritage, Salcombe Gin produces internationally acclaimed gins at their waterside distillery on Island Street in Salcombe. Victuallers Special Edition ‘Snapes Point Sloe & Damson Gin’ joins their outstanding line-up of Salcombe Gin ‘Start Point’, Salcombe Gin ‘Rosé Sainte Marie’ and ‘Four Seas’ by Salcombe Gin along with their exclusive Voyager Series.
