RSSL, a leading food and life science contract research organisation, has today announced the opening of a new laboratory providing a suite of advanced 3D imaging and metrology services. Facilitated by a £700,000 investment, these new services will support RSSL to meet the growing demand for high-precision imaging and measurement and help its clients accelerate R&D, enhance quality control, and ensure regulatory compliance.
RSSL’s new services leverage a unique combination of micro-CT, microscopy, and spectroscopy techniques to provide comprehensive and holistic analyses of food products, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. As the only CRO offering these combined capabilities, the new laboratory enables RSSL to offer unmatched precision, detail, and efficiency to its clients across the food and life science sectors.
These techniques have applications throughout the entire product lifecycle, from supporting material characterisation and prototyping during product development to providing non-destructive quality analyses and accurate safety testing of complex products. They can also be used during commercial manufacturing to help rapidly identify and resolve production challenges such as contamination and batch-to-batch inconsistency.
All of RSSL’s new 3D imaging and metrology services use the latest state-of-the-art analytical equipment, operated by an experienced, multi-disciplinary team, to provide dependable results and trusted insights. They are also fully integrated with RSSL’s existing capabilities, providing clients with an end-to-end strategic partner that can offer tailored analytical solutions to meet their unique project requirements.
Jacinta George, Managing Director at RSSL, commented: “At RSSL, we are committed to meeting the latest needs of our clients and driving cutting-edge research across our key sectors. By investing in our new imaging and metrology services, we are delivering on this to support innovations ranging from novel foods and sustainable packaging to precision medicines and medical devices.”
They added: “With this latest investment, we are also proud to be further expanding our laboratory footprint and service offering as part of our ambitious long-term growth strategy. This is central to enabling us to continue achieving our goal of supporting clients to help build a safer, healthier, and more sustainable future.”
