CJ Lang & Son Ltd, the leading Dundee-based Scottish wholesaler and SPAR convenience retailer, has announced a key leadership update as part of its ongoing focus on operational efficiency and supporting its independent store and company-owned network.
Sonya Harper has been appointed Chief Operating Officer, taking responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the business and deputising for CEO Colin McLean in his absence.
Under the new structure, Company Owned Stores Director Frank McCarron and Independent Sales Director Brian Straiton will now report directly to Harper, who will also continue to oversee the Central Operations Team.
Harper joined CJ Lang in 2019 as Head of Central Operations & Process Improvement and was promoted to Central Operations Director in 2020. She brings over two decades of retail operations experience, including senior roles at Scotmid.
Colin McLean, CEO, said: “I am delighted to announce this appointment and congratulate Sonya on her new role. Her experience and leadership will strengthen our operations and support our retailers as we continue to focus on delivering for customers. While trading conditions are challenging, we are well placed to respond and drive the business forward in the months ahead."
Sonya Harper, newly appointed COO, added: "Taking on this role is a great opportunity to build on the progress we have made in recent years. Working closely with the team, my focus will be on supporting our SPAR retail partners and stores to deliver the best possible service and range for customers."
CJ Lang & Son Ltd will host the ‘Inspiring Success’ SPAR Scotland Tradeshow in Aviemore this September, where further business updates will be shared with attendees.
