Tom Giddings, executive director of Alupro, will discuss pioneering progress in aerosol recycling at Paris Packaging Week. Taking place at the Expo Porte de Versailles between 5-6 February, the event brings together hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of delegates to discuss global developments in aerosol, cosmetics and premium beverage packaging.
As part of the two-day itinerary, Giddings will deliver a presentation about the UK Aerosol Recycling Initiative (UKARI) and its work to improve national aerosol recycling performance. “Spray, squirt and shake: the key to aerosols recycling”, will focus on recent trials to measure the impact of bespoke communications campaigns on recycling behaviour. The project has been carried out across 4 trial areas of the UK in partnership with SUEZ recycling and recovery UK (SUEZ).
During the session, Giddings will present initial data from the trials and use it to explain why education is critically linked to capture rates. He will showcase the new materials, look ahead to the next stage of the project and explain how brands can get involved. Attendees will be encouraged to consider how early participation in collaborative and sector-led activity can deliver practical benefits, while supporting wider sustainability goals.
Commenting on the event, Giddings said: “Across the aerosol supply chain, there is growing pressure to demonstrate widespread progress when it comes to recycling. Our work through UKARI demonstrates that education and awareness initiatives are essential to delivering positive behavioural change.
“Paris Packaging Week provides the chance to share those early lessons and invite more brands to be part of the future.”
