Bakkavor Opens Two Us Factories As Part Of Its Strategic Growth Plans.

Bakkavor Group plc, the leading provider of fresh prepared food, has formally opened two new factories in the US as part of its strategy to accelerate its international expansion.

Working in close partnership with one of its key customers, the major US retailer HEB, the Group has built Bakkavor Texas, a dedicated new factory in San Antonio, TX. The factory will soon be supplying a range of fresh meals for the retailer, increasing supply through 2019. The new factory was officially opened by Martin Otto, COO of HEB and Ivan Clingan, President & CEO of Bakkavor USA.

Bakkavor has also opened a new factory in Charlotte, NC, which will shortly start to supply a range of artisan breads including focaccias, flatbreads and dough balls across the US. The factory was officially opened by Alma S. Adams, Congresswoman for the 12th District of North Carolina.

The fresh prepared food market in the US is significantly underserved compared to the UK, and, as such, presents an exciting opportunity for Bakkavor to strengthen its customer offer, developing its presence and building key relationships with retailers. These new factories represent the completion of two of the Group’s key development projects and each site will benefit from the significant expertise Bakkavor has built in the UK over many years, including support in key areas such as technical, operations and product development.

Agust Gudmundsson, CEO of Bakkavor Group plc, commented:

“Bakkavor’s core strategy of delivering sustainable long-term growth includes developing our businesses both in the UK and internationally through strong customer partnerships and our leading expertise in the fresh prepared food market. These two investments represent a key part of this strategy and we look forward to delivering new and exciting products to US consumers.”
