Forterra supports food charity FareShare with £30,000 donation

FareShare is the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and food waste. Each year, over two million tonnes of food is wasted despite around 8.4 million people in the UK struggling to access good nutritious food. FareShare redistributes good quality, surplus food to around 11,000 charities and community groups across the nation.

With every £1 donated, FareShare is able to provide four nutritionally balanced meals, which means Forterra’s donation will enable the charity to redistribute the equivalent of 120,000 meals to families and children facing food poverty.

During the height of the pandemic, Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford MBE became an ambassador for the charity, working closely with them to ensure food availability for vulnerable children and families across the country.

Stephen Harrison, Chief Executive of Forterra, said: “We are delighted to be able to make this contribution to FareShare. It’s incredibly important that we come together to support vulnerable communities and children, not just during these particularly trying times, but into the future too.”

Head of Fundraising at FareShare, Becky Ettinger, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Forterra for this donation. The pandemic has made fundraising even more difficult, so to receive such a significant donation will make a huge difference to us and to all the people across the country who rely on our help.”
