Big 7 Travel has announced the world’s best vegan restaurants; from tiny vegan bistros to ethical fine dining experiences and fish-free sushi joints.

Finalists were selected from across member countries of the European Union.

Restaurants were chosen on their dedication to plant-based food and promoting sustainable and seasonal menus.

Votes were cast in poll of Big 7 readers, across their 1.5 million community on social media and by a panel of food experts.

Online reviews, previous media coverage and notable blogs were also included in the overall rating.

Big 7 Travel say;

“The 50 Best Vegan Restaurants in Europe 2019 showcase how creative vegan dishes can be. Whether you’ve made the switch to veganism or not, these restaurants are a must-visit.”

Chef Proprietor Richard Buckley, a life long vegetarian turned vegan says:

“We show our guests the beauty and taste of cooking with plants without relying on ‘fake meats’ or ‘fake cheese’. They have their place however we are passionate about fine dining and showing how delicious plants can be.”

“To be counted in the top 10 vegan restaurants in Europe is fantastic and means a great deal to us all. And we are delighted to be the only fully vegan restaurant in the UK in the top 10 winners.”

The Big 7 say;

With the US seeing a 600% increase in people identifying as vegans from 2014-2017, this is one lifestyle choice that seems to be here to stay.

It’s predicted that by 2040, only 40% of the global population will be consuming meat, with 35% consuming clean (lab) meat and 25% vegan meat replacements.

Not only that, a 2010 United Nations report saying that a global shift towards a vegan diet is vital to save the world from hunger, fuel poverty and the worst impacts of climate change, it’s clear that people are taking action.
