William Reed launches The Ingredients Show to complement its leading food and drink industry events

William Reed has announced the launch of a new event that will complement its existing portfolio of trade shows for the food and drink industry. The Ingredients Show will take place alongside Foodex, Food & Drink Expo, Farm Shop & Deli Show and the National Convenience Show at the NEC from 16-18 April 2018.

Designed to cater to the highly innovative UK food development market, The Ingredients Show will complete William Reed’s food industry portfolio, enabling it to offer five co-located events that cover everything from ingredients through to finished products. Of the 1,500-plus exhibitors present, more than 100 international ingredient suppliers will showcase innovations in April, including major players and smaller start-ups.

The launch of the new event comes as the UK food and drink industry continues to thrive, with global demand for UK-manufactured products expected to fuel future growth, according to a new report from Santander and the EEF. In 2016, 2171 international markets bought products from these shores, contributing more than £20bn[1] to the economy – a record amount.

Innovation is at the heart of the food and drink industry’s success, with manufacturers constantly looking at new product development to capitalise on the latest trends. As consumer demand for sustainable, nutritious and healthy products continues to increase –  both in the UK and abroad – novel new ingredients will inspire a new generation of products.

Dan Dixon, Event Director at William Reed, commented: “The UK food and drink industry is renowned across the world for its innovation, which is why we’re the world’s second largest exporter of products. Food development is the engine room of innovation and growth, and ingredients are the fuel – without them we would not have some of our favourite products. That’s why we have decided to bring this area of the industry into the spotlight.

“The inaugural The Ingredients Show, together with our hugely popular Foodex event, will bring together the entire food development community in a unique environment and provide manufacturers with a one-stop-shop for innovative new ingredients and equipment. It will provide a 360-degree perspective of the industry and enable businesses to tap into the latest trends and deliver innovative new products that drive future growth.”

This is the first time an event solely dedicated to food and drink ingredients has been established to take place on an annual basis in the UK. With over 8,000 companies operating across 9,000 manufacturing sites to produce 16,000 new products a year in the country, it’s no surprise the launch is being hailed as a positive – and long overdue – move by the food ingredients industry.

Several companies have already signed up to exhibit including GNT UK, Dohler (UK ) Ltd, Diana Foods and EHL Ingredients, as well as a Chinese Pavilion boasting 15 specialist ingredient companies. Guido de Jager, Head of Group Marketing at GNT Group commented: “GNT is the leading global manufacturer of cutting edge food and beverage ingredients made exclusively from fruits, vegetables and edible plants. With a focus on natural colour solutions, GNT stands as the industry authority, providing innovative colour solutions to the world’s most demanded food and beverage brands. A devotion to providing our customers with the highest quality ingredients and solutions has always been GNT’s driving force and we are delighted to be a key partner at The Ingredients Show 2018 and continuing our work with William Reed’s portfolio.”

The introduction of The Ingredients Show completes a set of events which, together, cover the whole spectrum of the £96 billion UK food supply chain – from farm to fork. Throughout the three days, organisers expect to welcome over 30,000 visitors, 1,500 exhibitors and 250 industry speakers across a series of live events.

Over the past 20 years William Reed has built an enviable event portfolio which consistently attracts every serious player in the UK food and drink industry. As a publisher and multi-national business events organiser, the company regularly engages with over 2.8 million nutrition professionals globally, and a UK audience of over 190,000 food industry experts across every discipline. This, combined with the business’ unique knowledge of the food and drink industry and its ability to draw a crowd, mean it is perfectly placed to stage the first and only UK ingredients event to take place annually on home soil.
