Ramona’s takes on the big brands with national supermarket listing

With an ambition to be the nation’s favourite houmous brand, Ramona’s is continuing its assault on the dip aisle as it launches into Tesco stores in April.

From 11th April, Tesco shoppers nationwide will be able to get their hands on Ramona’s 500g tubs of Original and Jalapeno Houmous as they arrive in 500 stores across the UK.

Having launched into Sainsbury’s last winter, this is the second national listing for Ramona’s, giving the brand exposure in two of the big four.

“This is a fantastic listing, not only because we’ll be able to reach so many more grocery customers through Tesco, but also because we’ll be located right in the heart of the dip aisle and we know our product and branding stands out amongst the bland and boring sea of beige,” explains Andrew Dobson, Head of Sales & Marketing at Ramona’s.

With Brits consuming a colossal 12,000 tonnes of houmous a year and 40% of the population chilling a tub in the fridge at any one time, demand for the Middle Eastern dip shows no sign of slowing and yet the sector remains largely dominated by own label offerings.

However, Ramona’s aims to stand out amongst the beige with its bold and big pots of delicious houmous that also offer value for money for those families and customers looking for a substantial size pot that will last the week. “We believe in bringing family and friends together with food made for sharing. This is why we produce big 500g pots of houmous at a great price so people can tuck in, share and enjoy,” continues Andrew. “The houmous aisles are so boring and we know that our pots really stand out on the shelf; not just for their bright branding, but their size too. Ramona’s Kitchen has the opportunity to inject energy and dynamism into the category and drive sales for the retailers.”

Ramona’s Jalapeno and Original houmous will retail in Tesco for £3.00 for a 500g tub. Ramona’s also produces a Red Pepper Houmous, a selection of frozen falafel in two flavours: Original and Spinach & Kale and its recently-launched chilled Original and Quinoa Falafel.
