With spooky season culminating last night, many across the country saw this as their trick or cheat day – particularly those in Bromley, Barking, Dover, and Stock-on-tees, with all areas seeing a 200% increase in takeaway orders compared to last Monday. It wasn’t only kids ringing the doorbell last night, as delivery drivers kept up with the surge in demand. The eerie-sistible takeaway of choice for Halloween 2022 was chips and cheeseburgers, making up 6.35% of all takeaways ordered last night.

Halloween is a big night for restauranteurs, especially following the takeaway boom that occurred post-pandemic – Flipdish’s data found takeaway orders were up 50% in the first half of 2022, compared to the first half of 2019. As the hospitality industry looks to weather another tough winter, restaurateurs should be looking at ordering peaks and key dates that yield spikes in ordering that they can capitalise on.
