The popular tourist village of Drymen near Loch Lomond in the Stirling district of central Scotland is home to a newly revamped SPAR convenience store.

The refurbished store held a launch event to celebrate the reopening on the afternoon of Friday 21 April, where residents and local shoppers were invited to attend and see what was new at their local SPAR store.

SPAR Drymen is owned and operated by leading wholesaler and SPAR operator CJ Lang & Son Ltd who has made a considerable investment in the store.

The store has been completely refurbished and customers will be greeted with new branding externally and internally, new floors throughout and enhanced lighting. All refrigeration cabinets have been replaced with modern, environmentally friendly fridges and freezers. The store also has a new sales counter including a self-service checkout area.

Decorated throughout, customers will experience an improved fresh produce and meat offering, a tasty range of bakery products and an extended licensing range.

Drymen is the latest company owned store to benefit from refurbishment work as CJ Lang continues with their aggressive store development programme.

Steven Irons, Company Owned Stores Operations Director at SPAR Scotland, said: “We are really pleased with the work that has been completed at SPAR Drymen and are delighted to share the new improved look with residents of the village. As a popular tourist spot, we know visitors to the area will also enjoy shopping in the revamped store.

“The investment we have made into SPAR Drymen is a continuation of the work we have done to other stores in our estate in recent months and we are delighted with the results they are producing.
“SPAR Drymen is positioned at the heart of its locality, and we are sure everyone in the area will enjoy the benefits of our investment. We have made considerable improvements to the in-store shopping experience, and we hope the great range of quality products and services will serve the area well for many years to come.”

Visitors to the store on the relaunch day were treated to goody bags which were filled with a selection of SPAR own label products. Brownings the Bakers provided lots of tasty traditional treats and the iconic SPAR Spinning Wheel provided prizes for customers to take away. The main prize draw took place and one lucky shopper won £100 of SPAR vouchers.

Following its community support programme, the store invited three local charities to attend the launch event and presented each of them with a £500 cheque. Drymen Senior Citizens, Drymen in Bloom and Drymen Primary School each had representatives there on the day to collect their respective donations.

SPAR Drymen employs twelve people and is open 6.30am – 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 8am – 10pm on Sunday. Shoppers at the store can also avail themselves of a free ATM machine, Paypoint, Lottery, Tango Ice Blast, Costa, and a range of food to go items.

CJ Lang has implemented a significant refurbishment programme across its company owned store estate with many stores the length and breadth of the country already benefiting from work undertaken. These include Gatehouse of Fleet, Balmacara, Spean Bridge, Crosshouse and Hillfoot. The store development programme will continue at pace over the next 12 months.
