Bandit Bakery capitalises on more than just bakes

Aberdeen plant-based bakery, Bandit Bakery, is increasing its range of non-bakery items as it witnesses a rise in demand for high-quality products from artisan producers.

Aberdeen plant-based bakery, Bandit Bakery, is increasing its range of non-bakery items as it witnesses a rise in demand for high-quality products from artisan producers.

Bandit Bakery prides itself on offering the very best plant-based bakes, and is renowned for its sourdough, focaccia, baguettes, cinnamon buns and cookies. More recently it has been searching beyond the bakes, introducing a selection of carefully-sourced goods that include coffee, hot sauces, seasoning mixes, flour and high-quality chocolate.

“We have been stocking a selection of products that we personally love and want to share, and so far sales of these have been amazing!” comments Pete Leonard, director of Bandit Bakery. “We recently started stocking my favourite new chocolate, FATSO, a single origin Colombian chocolate in three different flavours and it has literally flown off the shelf. It’s been great to see customers who have tried it and liked it so much they’ve come back for more. The packaging has really appealed to customers and our enthusiasm when telling them about FATSO has really helped.”

Continues Pete, “We serve quite a range of customers and seek to be honest and simple with what we do and I feel that appeals to a wide demographic. Although the kind of baking we do could easily be sold as artisan, we try to avoid presenting as such to reach as many hungry cake and bread lovers as possible!”

With its current range of goods doing so well, Bandit Bakery is on the lookout for products that fit with its ethos to keep things fresh and interesting for its customers. Adds Pete, “we’re always on the lookout for new things to try and if we like it ourselves, then we will look to see if it’s possible to purchase it wholesale. Introducing a range of other goods is a great way for bakeries to boost add on sales and increase overall spend, whilst also giving customers a better shopping experience.”
