Virgin Wines achieves Carbon Neutral certification

Virgin Wines UK plc (AIM: VINO), one of the UK’s largest direct-to-consumer online wine retailers, is pleased to announce that it has been officially certified as a Carbon Neutral business, under the internationally recognised PAS 2060 standard.

The Company becomes the first online wine retailer to achieve this status, as it works towards its goal of becoming Net Zero by 2045, in line with global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce the impact of climate change.

The certification also comes as Virgin Wines publishes its first sustainability report, which will be included within its Annual Report 2022, to showcase its wider sustainability plans and targets. This includes applying to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and the Company’s plans to cut its Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by at least 43% by 2030.

Jay Wright, Chief Executive Officer at Virgin Wines, commented:

“While our focus is on creating great quality wines, we also want to have a positive impact on our planet and help meet our customers’ aspirations to shop with more sustainable businesses. We’re very proud to have achieved the PAS 2060 standard, meaning we are now a certified Carbon Neutral business.

Whilst being carbon neutral is a fantastic achievement, we understand that this is only the first step on our journey to reducing our carbon emissions. We’re committed to continuing to make progress in this area, and also being transparent with all of our stakeholders, looking forward to providing regular updates on this where appropriate now and into the future.”
