BRCGS – an LGC Assure Company – announces it has made a significant investment in Ecodesk to further the development of the ESG Lead application.

ESG Lead provides a practical and easy to use tool for the food sector to drive practical and actionable ESG performance improvement at site level and to help businesses prepare for the raft of new ESG standards on the horizon.

The application is built upon over a decade of experience at Ecodesk in developing ESG data collection and reporting platforms for some of the world’s largest enterprises including the World Bank and The World Business Council for Sustainable Development. It represents a new way of understanding and delivering net positive ESG impacts in the supply chain by combining compliance frameworks to standardise the process of data collection and reporting whilst also providing best practise guidelines in relation to the site data it ingests.

By operating within compliance frameworks and by working alongside highly respected compliance auditors ESG Lead will offer new levels of ESG performance verification.

The investment from BRCGS will enable Ecodesk to further develop the ESG Lead platform over the next 3 years delivering accessible site-level ESG best practices across the entire supply chain to retailers, brands and their suppliers.

Damien Smith, CEO of Ecodesk welcomes this exciting new partnership

“Everyone involved with Ecodesk is delighted to be working with the team at BRCGS and we believe this development will bring to market a unique offering to reduce risk and increase positive ESG impact in supply chains. We know how hard it is for suppliers, in particular, to keep pace with increasing ESG demands and ESG Lead will help to ease that burden whilst bringing the benefits of sustainable value creation to business at all stages of their ESG journey”.

These sentiments are echoed by Mike Wilson, SVP of LGC ASSURE, BRCGS’s parent company:

”ESG LEAD has been developed in response to the growing recognition in the food industry of the importance of business performance, particularly where issues like sustainability and resilience are involved, and the shortcomings and limitations of existing programs on the market. As a leading provider of assurance services aimed at improving consumer protection and driving brand reputation through compliance, BRCGS is ideally placed to enable the sector to respond to emerging customer requirements with data that can be trusted. Partnering with Ecodesk provides the digital capability and domain expertise that will bring scalability and credibility”.
